Issue 1: Why Physical AI Matters Now
The inaugural post for the Physical AI Dispatch newsletter
Welcome! We’re excited to share the very first edition of this newsletter with you.
If you’re reading this, it means you’re curious about where AI is heading next.
We believe the answer is clear: AI is moving into the physical world.
For years, we’ve seen AI mostly through screens: chatbots, image generators, recommendation engines, dashboards, copilots.
Useful, yes. But stuck in the digital space.
The next wave is about AI that can sense, move, react, and do real work in our homes, hospitals, fields, factories and cities.
AI that acts. That’s present. That solves hard physical problems
This is Physical AI.
And it’s arriving faster than most people expect. In fact, it’s already here.
This newsletter is our way of helping more people enter that world.
Here, you’ll get:
Simple, clear explanations of key Physical AI ideas
Real examples from industries already adopting embodied AI
Visual models and diagrams that make complex things easy
Conversations with researchers, engineers, and leaders shaping the field
Our own experiments in humanoids, agent systems, simulation, and AIoT gymlabs
Ideas for Gen Z and Gen Alpha to prepare for the jobs and opportunities of tomorrow
We don’t want to just inform. Have you read our content and forget about it.
We want you to walk away feeling confident, inspired or prepared.
Whether you’re a student trying to understand what’s next. A professional exploring new skills. Or someone who simply loves learning about the future.
You’re in the right place.
This is the beginning of a movement. A place where you can understand what this term everyone is starting to throw around like wildfire. Everyone’s saying the robots are coming. But none are explaining what it means, what we should be learning and what actually matters.
Together, we can build automation that solve real problems, wicked problems. Pollution, poverty and waste, ensuring a healthier, more equitable future.
Let’s build the future that moves. Let’s get Physical.
The Physical AI Dispatch is the brainchild of Harsha Srivatsa and Sevanne Calle.
Together we have spent a combination of 25+ years involved in AI, AIoT systems, robotics, edge compute, multi-agent architecture, autonomous cars and digital twins.
We have an extended network and partners and advisors who are physical AI product managers, AI experts, robotics experts - all thought leaders in their fields.
We came together motivated to something new, different and impactful.
Sevanne Calle: Having been deep in the trenches building hardware products, digital twins, AI and product, I’ve seen how AI products are evolving from digital to the physical world. I want to help ensure that as this shift happens, we build physical AI that is safe, ethical and deeply human centered….and invite anyone who’s curious enough to start now to help design what comes next.
Harsha Srivatsa: I’ve spent the several years deeply involved in AI, AIoT systems, robotics, edge compute, and multi-agent architecture. I’ve seen how these fields are converging — and how they’re about to open a new world of opportunity for anyone willing to learn early.
With this newsletter, we hope to connect and inspire the troops in the trenches or wanting to enter —engineers, scientists, students and AI experts. So they collaborate across disciplines and champion AI for Good in shaping a better future for generations to come. We want to foster Physical AI literacy in education, connect interdisciplinary experts all while driving responsible innovation in physical AI.
We want to empower the next generation of creators and caretakers of our planet.
